Leather Gag Full Cheek

Velari Leather Gag Full Cheek - combines a straight leather mouthpiece with a thoughtfully designed full cheek gag configuration. Created for horses that benefit from clear lateral guidance, a stable mouthpiece and refined communication, this bit brings together structure and a responsive feel. It is particularly suited to experienced riders working to develop balance, suppleness and a lighter, more consistent contact.

The extended full cheek sides help stabilise the bit and support lateral guidance, making them useful when refining turns and directional aids. The gag cheekpieces introduce an additional action when rein contact is taken, potentially creating a lifting effect. Together, these features offer a distinctive combination of directional support and gag action. The degree of influence depends on the fitting, the rider's hands and the individual horse's response.

The straight leather mouthpiece offers a natural, yielding alternative to conventional metal mouthpieces. Leather has a distinctive feel in the horse's mouth and can gradually become more supple through moisture and chewing. Its unjointed design provides a consistent contact surface without the movement of a jointed mouthpiece, making it an option for horses that prefer a stable, uninterrupted feel. Regular conditioning with olive oil or sunflower oil, together with careful inspection, helps maintain the leather's condition over time.
