2.5 Ring Leather - a 2.5 ring bit with a leather mouth piece.
Mode of Action:
When tension is applied to the reins, for Multiring-, 3 Ring-, Gag- & Baucherbits the pressure is distributed to the tongue to the lower jaw first and then to the neck. This gives the rider more control again with horses that are growing strong and withdrawing upwards, because horses usually react by lowering their head when the pressure is applied to the neck.
With dressage horses, the use of a baucher bit is suitable to prepare the horse for the curb. These bits are not recommended for horses that tend to withdraw downwards and tend to crawl.
The effect is even more pronounced with gag bits and 3-ring bits, as the leverage is greater due to the length of the side part and the extended gag cheek pieces through the bit ring. The best effect is achieved when using two pairs of reins. The main rein in the large ring acts on the tongue and lower jaw, the second pair of reins, buckled in the lower ring, can, if necessary, exert pressure on the poll via the cheek piece. For Swivel Bits, the effects are similar to 2,5 and 3-Ring bits but it has a softer effect, as well as a softer action on the jaw. A Swival is a ‘sliding’ bevel bit and presses against the cheek, making it easier to maneuver.
A prerequisite for this is of course a practiced and soulful rider's hand.
The leather bits are a striking addition to the Trust Equestrian bits collection. The leather bits are hand crafted in the Netherlands for the perfect finish. The core of the bits is made of reinforced nylon. The leather stitched around the nylon core has been tanned naturally without the use of chemicals. As the horse salivates, the saliva softens the bit, making it more comfortable in the horses mouth. The flexibility combined with the taste of leather makes the bit ideal for horses with a sensitive mouth. A unique feature to the Trust leather bits is the round construction and the flexibility the leather mouthpiece has to offer.
In addition, we notice that mares like the taste of the leather and therefore accept the bit well.
Tip: The leather bit is easy to keep flexible by regularly smearing it with some olive oil.
Note: make sure that the stitching points to the outside, towards the opening of the mouth.
