The mouthpiece lies softly curved over the tongue and distributes pressure evenly across the tongue and bars. The loose rings provide additional mobility and support a responsive, precise connection between the horse and the rider's hand.

The Sweet Iron mouthpiece naturally oxidises during use and develops a light patina over time. According to the manufacturer, this process encourages salivation and can support softer, more relaxed acceptance of the bit. The double-jointed construction also reduces the nutcracker effect associated with single-jointed mouthpieces and follows the shape of the horse's mouth more evenly.
