Derma Wash

Cavalor Derma Wash - a medicated shampoo that no stable should be without! Bacteria, both good and bad are everywhere. If a horse has a lowered immunity, or if the bad organisms are in the majority, bacteria will get the upper hand and the horse will be more susceptible to bacterial or fungal infections. Organisms can spread everywhere. Infections are mainly transferable through brushes, halters and blankets. Horses can also be fungal carriers, even without showing symptoms. Keeping this in mind, it's very important to manage the fungal and bacterial population within the stable. 

Cavalor Derma Wash is a hygienic shampoo containing chlorhexidine, used to wash horses that have flaky skin, dull coats or a skin condition. It's the ideal shampoo to wash new arrivals in the yard to prevent infections. Don't forget, a horses coat mirrors it's internal health! A dull coat can be caused by a problem from within, causing nutrients to not be properly absorbed. 

Besides it's use as a shampoo, the Derma Wash can also be used to clean blankets, saddle pads, leather, etc. To clean small wounds or genitals, it's recommended to use the Derma Spray which has the same active ingredients, without the soap. 

Cavalor chose to use Chlorhexidine as it's an excellent disinfectant and stops the growth of bacteria and fungi. Compared to other disinfectants (for instance iodine), chlorhexidine will not dry out the coat or colour the skin. It is also scientifically proven to have a longer and broader effect. 

When developing the Derma Wash, Cavalor carefully selected the components for optimal quality and efficiency. Certain colorants and soaps can reduce the chlorhexidine's activity. The very specific choice of different ingredients is also the reason why the Derman Wash doesn't foam as much as other shampoos.

Directions for use: Apply a small amount (approx. 30 ml) of the Derma Wash in a bucket of lukewarm water, and apply directly to the whole body or affected skin with a sponge. Let it soak for a short time and then carefully rinse with water. 

To avoid infections, it can be a good idea to wash the horse with Derma Wash monthly, or after intensive contact with other horses. 

For washing tack and equipment, use 30 ml of Derma Wash in the ashing machine instead of detergent.
