Velari Eggbutt Gag Flex Double Jointed Medium - combines a double-jointed Flex mouthpiece with the lifting action of a gag bit. As the reins are taken up, the cheekpieces running through the rings create a gentle upward action together with subtle poll pressure. This action can support horses in becoming lighter through the forehand and developing more active balance, particularly during transitions, collected work or when the horse tends to seek support in the rider's hand.

The Flex Medium mouthpiece combines the smooth, non-metallic surface of a synthetic bit with medium firmness. According to the manufacturer, the non-toxic material provides a smooth surface against sensitive areas of the mouth. The Medium version is deliberately firmer than softer Flex options, allowing rein aids to be transmitted clearly while retaining the characteristic contact of a synthetic mouthpiece.

The double-jointed construction distributes pressure evenly across the tongue and bars while following the natural contours of the horse's mouth. Its reduced upward movement towards the roof of the mouth makes the design particularly suitable for horses with a lower palate according to the manufacturer. Combined with the gag action, the Velari Eggbutt Gag Flex Double Jointed Medium is primarily intended for experienced riders with balanced contact and can be used for flatwork, jumping and cross-country.
