As the reins are taken up, the gag action allows the bit to move upward in the mouth, creating progressive pressure at the corners of the lips and behind the poll. According to the manufacturer, the Flex Hard mouthpiece is constructed from a firm, non-toxic synthetic material, providing clearly defined feedback without relying on a traditional metal mouthpiece. It maintains its shape under pressure for a consistent and stable signal.

The integrated tongue port creates additional room for the tongue and shifts part of the pressure towards the bars.
