Velari Full Cheek Gag Single Jointed Sweet Iron - combines the lateral guidance of a full cheek bit with the lifting action of a gag. The extended full cheek sides stabilise the bit laterally and support clear guidance through turns, while the gag mechanism works through cheekpieces running through the rings to create a lifting action with light poll pressure. This combination is particularly suited to horses that tend to lean onto the forehand or require additional support with balance and straightness.

The 16 mm single-jointed mouthpiece is made from sweet iron and naturally oxidises during use. According to the manufacturer, this process encourages salivation and can support acceptance of the bit and a more supple contact. When the reins are taken up, the single joint forms a V-shape and provides clear, direct communication across the tongue and bars. According to the manufacturer, this construction can be particularly suitable for horses with a higher palate.

The full cheek sides stabilise the mouthpiece and support lateral guidance of the shoulders, which can be particularly beneficial for younger or less balanced horses. At the same time, the gag action provides an additional lifting influence for horses that become heavy in the hand or fall onto the forehand.
